Zenvo Automotive, the Danish manufacturer of limited-edition hypercars, has just offered a glimpse of its latest engineering feat: the ‘Mjølner’ engine. This V12 powertrain, which combines a 6.6-liter engine with an electric hybrid system, promises to generate an impressive output of up to 1850 bhp (approximately 1876 hp), making it the most powerful V12 engine ever fitted to a production road car.
The first example of this meticulously hand-built unit has been completed, marking a significant step forward in the development program of the Aurora hypercar, unveiled in 2023. The heart of the Aurora is this bespoke, newly designed 6.6-liter V12 engine, developed in collaboration with MAHLE Powertrain. Production of the engine and the hybrid system will take place at MAHLE Powertrain's facilities in Northampton, United Kingdom.
Focus on Driver Experience and Sustainability
Despite its overwhelming power, the ‘Mjølner’ engine was designed with the driver experience in mind. Zenvo prioritized sensory engagement without compromising usability or emissions. Utilizing the MAHLE Jet Ignition system, the engine has been specifically conceived for road use, meeting current and future global emissions regulations.
This new V12 engine also marks the debut of Zenvo's new modular engine architecture. This platform will allow for the creation of different engine configurations for future models of the brand, demonstrating a long-term vision for innovation in high-performance powertrains.
